Some Great Fifty-Cent Finds!

Went thrifting this weekend and found me a few ponies! They were really manky but I was able to clean them up! Unfortunately, Wigwam has a cut forlock, but I am going to keep him anyway since I don't have any brother ponies.

Finds for September 21st 2010

Wow! What a great day at the thrift store!

Today I found:

A Care Bear Christmas Train
A MIP Furskin Bear (Made by the same people who did Cabbage Patch)
1983 Muppet Babies Kermit Plush
Richard Scarry's Puzzle Town Playset (only missing one piece!)
1972 Eden Beatrix Potter Mrs. Rabbit Plush with Tag
Vintage Battlestar Galactica Board Game
A Large Pound Puppy
A Smurf Plush
A Complete 1980's Classic Board Game "Pretty Pretty Princess"
A bunch of Popples Valentine Cards
Crissy's Cousin "Velvet" Doll

AND MY BEST FIND OF THE DAY!!

SEVEN VINTAGE KNEE-HUGGER PIXIES!!!! <---Extra exclamation points means I'm excited

I haven't mentioned before but I LOVE 1960's knee-huggers, and many 1960's kitschy toys. I grab them when I see them at thrift stores. Even though I was born in 1980, I still love the vintage look of these dolls. This set is an excellent find in particular because not only are they clown pixies, but they are very large, at least 30 inches each! As I was carrying them off in my cart people were looking at me like, "Why in the world would she buy old clowns?" Ha ha! Little do they know these things go for about $40 a piece on eBay. But I'm not going to sell them. I am going to put them with my other 1960's toys and count myself lucky!

I am also really excited to have found "Pretty Pretty Princess." My two daughters love playing board games. Here's a picture of them playing the Lady Lovely Locks game we found last week:

That is a really fun game! My oldest always seems to win though. She plays Silkymane every time.

A few of the items I found today may eventually end up on eBay or in my trades section but I haven't yet decided which.

YAY FOR THRIFTING!

Berry Babies!

I have had this one for a few months but thought I would post about her. Isn't she adorable?

Her name is Blueberry Muffin and she is complete with bottle, clothes and adoption card!

Now I just need to get her friends! Lemon, Orange, and Strawberry!

I am excited. Tomorrow I am heading out for some much needed thrifting. Wish me luck!

Working on my trade and want list

Okay so I am a perfectionist. I like to have things cataloged and meticulously looked over. This means I am slow but accurate. I have put up a for sale/trade list and want list up on this blog. Now, if you happen to have something I need but don't see anything you want please email me, as I have lots of items in storage and may have something that interests you. More will be added as time goes on.

Make way for Fairy Winkles!

Fairy Winkles are tiny fairy toys from the mid-1990's. The whole sell was that they hide inside regular every day objects. Although I was a little too old for them when they came out, I thought they were cute and bought some for my little sister. Later, I decided to get some for myself and now I let my girls play with them.

Today we have the SWEET DREAMS COMPACT!

Say hello to Cozy, Dozy, Stretch, Yawn and Snug'ems. They are tiny fairies called "Weewinkles!"

These guys are only about an inch tall. They live in the sweet dreams compact!

The compact separates into two compartments, a living room and bedroom!

I'll be showing more of my fairy winkles as I grab them out of storage. I just think they are adorable. This set is complete and the names were found on the packaging.

Bille, Suzie and Katie! Best Friends Babies!

Look who arrived on the same day from different places across the world!

Meet the trio! Bille, Suzie and Katie. My first UK exclusive ponies. Now I really want to find their friends which are a bunny, a kitty and a puppy (see info here).

I have a weakness for pony babies, especially the UK ones. I got these for about $7 a piece, plus shipping on eBay. I am always trying to get good deals and I think they were a great deal since they were all mint!

Recently, I noticed a MIP Katie go for $38.77. That's not too bad, I suppose. Here's a picture of the auction below:

None of them came with combs or ribbons. If you have the kitty, bunny or puppy for trade let me know, they are on my want list!

Monchhichi Memories

When I was around five years old I had a Monchhichi plush and several figures. Recently I found an antique shop here in town with a big bucket fill of them. So I grabbed three that I remember having as a kid and hope to find more for a bit cheaper. They were really dingy so I cleaned them up. Aren't they cute?!

I went on a trip to New York last December and ended up at FAO Schwartz where I grabbed two newer baby plush for my girls. They love them. You can go broke on Monchhichi, though. The new ones they have out are numerous. I think I am going to focus on the PVC figures in my collection. I think there has to be some focus or I will end up on that hoarders show in twenty years, but instead of garbage I'll have lots of toys!

Finds for September 16th!

Yesterday I went downtown to take care of some legal business and decided to stop in an antique store that I know carries 80's toys. After spending too much money there ($42) I decided to hit the thrift shops! I had a fairly successful day there. Look at my loot:

Rainbow Brite Color Cottage Playset

Found this at the antique store and it cost me $32, which is a lot (I always want to find things cheap!) But it was in the box and had some other RB pieces in there, so I splurged.

OTHER FINDS
Two G3 Ponies
Three G1 Ponies
Three Monchhichi Figures
MLP Show Stable (no accessories but has lots of puffy stickers all over it and all the doors)
Baby Popple
Baby Tugs Plush
Pound Purry in gray!
Lady Lovely Locks Game
2 1960's Plush Toys
My Pretty Mermaid
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Dino
Fern Gully Fairy
Lady Lovely Locks Doll

The last four items on the list I intend to keep for trades, so let me know what you've got! After finding so many fun things at the thrift shop for dirt cheap I was reminded once again that antique stores are never a good deal, and I don't want to go broke amassing a collection so it is fun to hold out for that deal, even if it takes a while to get it.

Hello!

Hi! I am a 29-year old writer who also collects toys from my childhood!

This is a brag blog to share with you other toy nuts the finds I get at thrift stores and on eBay! I collect a variety of toys from the 80's and 90's. Many of my collections are complete but most are just starting! I have been at this ten years and have bought and sold whole collections dozens of times over. Now I am finally owning up to my obsession and seeing it as something fun to do after a tough day at work. There are a lot of things to collect and a whole life ahead of me so let's get started!
